A computational framework for colour metrics and colour space transforms

چکیده

An object-oriented computational framework for the transformation of colour data and colour metric tensors is presented. The main idea of the design is to represent the transforms between spaces as compositions of objects from a class hierarchy providing the methods for both the transforms themselves and the corresponding Jacobian matrices. In this way, new colour spaces can be implemented on the fly by transforming from any existing colour space, and colour data in various formats as well as colour metric tensors and colour difference data can easily be transformed between the colour spaces. This reduces what normally requires several days of coding to a few lines of code without introducing a significant computational overhead. The framework is implemented in the Python programming language. Subjects Computer Vision, Graphics, Optimization Theory and Computation, Scientific Computing and Simulation, Software Engineering

Colour Emotion Models, CIELAB Colour Coordinates, and Iranian Emotional Responses

Ten colour emotional scales, namely, "Warm Cool", "Active-Passive", "Like-Dislike", "Clean-Dirty", "Fresh-Stale", "Modern-Classical", "Heavy-Light", "Hard- Soft", "Tense-Relaxed", and "Masculine-Feminine"are investigated for single-colour stimuli in CIELAB colour space within a psychophysical experiment by forty observers. The relationships between Iranian colour emotional responses and CIELAB ...

Hyperbolic geometry for colour metrics.

It is well established from both colour difference and colour order perpectives that the colour space cannot be Euclidean. In spite of this, most colour spaces still in use today are Euclidean, and the best Euclidean colour metrics are performing comparably to state-of-the-art non-Euclidean metrics. In this paper, it is shown that a transformation from Euclidean to hyperbolic geometry (i.e., co...

Metrics for Image Retrieval by Colour Content

We consider a functional-analytic setting for querying large image databases by colour content, in which the colour distributions (histograms), describing the colour content of an image, are probability measures on the colour space C. The Kantorovich distance turns out to be among the most relevant metrics on the space of colour distributions. We study the colour histogram space equipped with a...

An Extended Performance Comparison of Colour to Grey and Back using the Haar, Walsh, and Kekre Wavelet Transforms

The storage of colour information in a greyscale image is not a new idea. Various techniques have been proposed using different colour spaces including the standard RGB colour space, the YUV colour space, and the YCbCr colour space. This paper extends the results described in [1] and [2]. While [1] describes the storage of colour information in a greyscale image using Haar wavelets, and [2] add...

Spectral Colour Order Systems and Appearance Metrics for Fluorescent Solid Colours

One aspect of Computational Aesthetics is the finding of harmonic colours for the objects in a scene. Although the obtained degree of colour harmony is a subjective criterion, experience shows that on average human observers tend to have quite similar responses to individual colour stimuli and their combinations. This observation is the basis for what is commonly referred to as Colour Order Sys...
